What's New in Version 2.1.0
Released
like requested, i've added a non Bulge version to the package. Both have the same thumbnail.
The fitness skill is a fairly fast skill to max out, especially if your sim is prepared to put in some good hours at the gym. It is also entertaining for storytelling purposes as you can make your sim lose weight or put on muscle using the right pieces of equipment.
Best Mood, Traits and Careers
Mood
Your sim will want to be very energised or energised as often as possible while working out as this will increase the rate in which they learn the skill. Your sim can not die from being too energised, so the ideal is to stack as many energised and happy buffs as possible.
Traits:
Active is obviously one of the best choices, as not only does it give you random energised buffs but it also means your sim will enjoy themselves as they work out, but there are plenty of other traits that can give you an energised buff or otherwise are helpful for this skill. These include:
- Bro – gives you an energised buff when you watch sports on TV
- Kleptomaniac – gives you an energised buff when you successfully steal something
- Neat – can get an energised buff from a cleaning frenzy and clean the house at the same time.
- Loves the Outdoors – gives you a happy buff when your outdoors, so great for jogger sims.
- Cheerful – gives you random happy buffs
Careers:
There is no way of earning money through the fitness skill alone, so you probably will want your sim to have a career. The Athletic career is the obvious choice as it is a pure fitness skill career in the bodybuilder path, with some charisma required for the alternative branch. The secret agent and astronaut careers also require sims to have some fitness skill, and often require you to be energised going into work. However, as this is one of the quickest skills to maximise, you could always do it alongside any other career.
Becoming Energised
There are a lot of ways to get your sim energised, including:
- Taking a brisk shower
- Taking a muscle relaxing soak in the bath (with the Spa Day game pack)
- Eating a high energy protein plate (your sim will be able to cook these when already in an energised state, but you can make a serving of 8 and save them for later)
- Doing an energy centering routine on the yoga mat (with the Spa day game pack)
- Decorating your home gym with crystals – they give off an energising aura (click on them and select enable aura)
- Reading energising books
- Being mentored by a gym trainer, or another sim with level 10 fitness – simply start exercising and ask the sim to mentor you
At level 3 of the skill you can research workout tips on the computer that will give you an energised buff
Starting Learning the Fitness Skill in the Sims 4
You can start building fitness skills by either clicking on your sim and selecting jogging, clicking on a spot on the floor and selecting exercise or, if you want to be fancy, interacting with a piece of gym equipment. If you work out at the gym, you can get an extra boost to your learning speed by asking a gym trainer (or other sim with level 10 fitness) to mentor you. Simply start exercising and then click on the gym trainer and select “Ask to mentor”, you will also find that you quickly gain friendship while they are mentoring you.
You can also read books on fitness which will boost your skill but obviously will not change your sims body shape, and will take longer
As you improve you will unlock the following skills:
- Level 1: Jogging, swimming, and basic workouts on the running and weights machine and practise boxing on the punching bag.
- Level 2: You unlock the social interaction to discuss workouts with other sims which might give you an energised buff
- Level 3: You can now do the endurance run on the treadmill and research workout tips on the computer (under the web section)
- Level 4: You can now box on the punching bag, and lift heavy weights on the weights machine
- Level 5: You can do a no sweat run on the treadmill, so exercise without losing hygiene and can make protein shakes at the bar which will give you an energised buff.
- Level 6: You can show off your muscles to other sims without being confident
- Level 7: You can do a hill challenge on the treadmilll
- Level 8: You can do an epic workout on the weights machine
- Level 9: You can practise fighting with other sims. This will cause your sim to have a fight but without losing friendship with the sim they fight
- Level 10: Mentor other sims.
Sims 4 Fitness Skill and Basketball (with the Sims City Living Expansion Pack)
If you have the City Living expansion pack your sim can also learn the fitness skill via playing basketball. As their fitness skill increases your sim will unlock the following basketball abilities:
- Dream Big – Your sim will pretend they are a basketball player going for the closing shot of a game. They can get an energised moodlet from doing this, or an embarrassed moodlet if another sim catches them attempting this
- Shoot Around – Your sim will practise taking shots. The higher their fitness or motor skills the more types of shot they can take, and the more likely they are to land the shots. If your sim gets three consecutive shots in a row they will get a happy moodlet.
- Practice Dribbling/Dribble – Your sim will practise dribbling the ball. There skills and animations will improve as their fitness skill gets higher.
- Coach (Unlocks at Level 3 Fitness Skill) – Your sim can coach other sims they know if they are already playing basketball. Your sim may gain a confident moodlet and the sim you are coaching may gain a energised moodlet.
- Take Shots – Your sim will practise taking shots at the hoop. As they improve their fitness skill your sim will be able to take different shots from further away. The higher their fitness skill the more likely they are to make the shots. If your sim makes three shots in a row they might get a happy moodlet. The shots they can take are:
- Close Shots
- 2 Pointers (Unlocks at Level 2 Fitness Skill)
- Free Throws (Unlocks at Level 2 Fitness Skill)
- 3 Pointer (Unlocks at Level 4 Fitness Skill)
- Half Court (Unlocks at Level 6 Fitness Skill)
- Dunks – Your sim will practise dunks at the hoop. The higher their fitness skill the more likely they are to make a dunk and the more styles they can unlock. Be warned that if your sim fails a shot they can get a sprained ankle moodlet which will leave them feeling uncomfortable for two hours, but they will continue playing. The types of dunk your sim can take are:
- Layup
- Double Clutch (Unlocks at Level 3 Fitness Skill)
- 360 Monster Jam (Unlocks at Level 5 Fitness Skill)
- Challenge – Your sim can challenge another sim in the area to a basketball competition. At first you only have the option of a hoops competition, but once you reach level three of the fitness skill you can challenge other sims to a dunk competition. Your sim and the sim you challenge will take turns taking shots or dunks for a few rounds. If your sim wins the competition they will gain a happy moodlet.
What type of workout to do
Working out to gain skill as quickly as possible
If you follow the order that activities are unlocked then you should gain fitness skill faster, so an epic workout (at level 8) will gain you fitness skill faster than lifting heavy weights (level 4).
To reach maximum body potential – losing weight and gaining muscle
Different activities will have different effects on your sim’s body. You may want your sim to be particularly thin but not muscular, or big with lots of muscles and so can achieve that by doing the correct exercises. If you are trying to reach your sim’s maximum body potential for the Bodybuilder aspiration, then you are aiming to get your sim with minimum fatness and maximum muscle so will need to do a range of exercises.

Mentoring Other Sims
Once you reach level 10 you should be able to mentor other sims in the fitness skill. You will need to wait until a sim starts exercising and then an option to mentor should be available. This will give your sim a confident buff, and the sim you are mentoring will get a strong energised buff and a boost to their skill learning speed.
